A suicide attack targeted a police mobile in Lakki Marwat, resulting in the death of one officer and injuries to five others, authorities confirmed. The incident occurred near Katokhel Adda, close to Tajori, where the bomber detonated explosives on the police vehicle. Remnants of the attacker were found scattered at the scene.
The police mobile had seven officers on board at the time of the attack. Head Constable Alauddin was killed on the spot, while ASI Haq Nawaz Khan, driver Yar Muhammad, Elite Force Constable Kamal Ahmed, Naeemullah, and DFC officer Nasrullah sustained injuries. A companion of the suicide bomber managed to flee the site, with locals pursuing the suspect into nearby forests.
Prime Minister Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack, offering prayers for the martyr and extending condolences to the bereaved family. He also directed authorities to provide immediate medical care to the injured officers and wished them a swift recovery. The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s resolve to neutralize terrorists and protect civilians from harm.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi strongly condemned the attack, acknowledging the sacrifice of the slain police officer. He assured that the provincial government stands firmly with the police and emphasized that maintaining law and order remains a top priority. He stated that such cowardly attacks would not weaken the morale of security forces or the government’s commitment to combating terrorism.
The incident highlights ongoing security challenges in Lakki Marwat and the region’s vulnerability to terrorists attacks. Police and local authorities have intensified search operations to apprehend the fleeing accomplice.
