1 min read

The Pakistan hockey team will play its World Cup qualifying round matches in Egypt, officials confirmed. The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has assigned Egypt as the host for one of the qualifying rounds, while the second round will take place in Chile. The FIH is expected to release the full schedule of the qualifiers soon.

Sources indicate that the qualifying rounds are tentatively scheduled from February 28 to March 7, 2026, pending final confirmation from the host nations. Egypt’s conditions are expected to be favorable for Pakistan, providing the team with a conducive environment to prepare for the World Cup.

Ahead of the qualifiers, Pakistan will gain valuable experience by participating in eight Pro League matches against Argentina, the Netherlands, Australia, and Germany. This preparation is expected to strengthen the team ahead of the crucial qualifying fixtures.

The FIH qualifying rounds will feature 16 teams, with seven securing a spot in the Hockey World Cup, scheduled to be held next year from August 15 in the Netherlands and Belgium.
