The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi has rejected Aleema Khan’s request to remove terrorism charges under Section 7 ATA in the Sadiqabad case, affirming the court’s jurisdiction and the validity of the charges.
The verdict was delivered by ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah, who confirmed that the police had correctly applied the terrorism provision in the case arising from protests held on November 26 at Sadiqabad. The court ruled that the trial will continue under the Anti-Terrorism Act and that the charges fall squarely within the court’s authority.
Aleema Khan exited the courthouse following the decision. Her defense lawyer, Faisal Malik, stated that the verdict will be challenged in the High Court.
The ATC also summoned official witnesses for the next hearing and adjourned the trial until December 4.
The case remains under intense public and media attention due to the application of terrorism charges in relation to protest activities.
