The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) fell short of its tax collection target in November, collecting Rs878 billion against a target of Rs1,034 billion, resulting in a shortfall of Rs156 billion, sources said.
Officials indicated that daily collections could reduce the deficit by about Rs5 billion. For December, the FBR has set a tax collection target of Rs1,406 billion.
Sources further noted that during the first five months of the current fiscal year, FBR collected Rs4,715 billion against a target of Rs5,083 billion, leaving a cumulative shortfall of Rs413 billion.
To achieve the monthly target, FBR offices will remain open today, according to sources. Authorities stressed the need for increased compliance and efficient enforcement to meet revenue goals for the fiscal year.
