Pakistan Railways has decided to outsource an additional 11 passenger trains under its public–private partnership initiative, aiming to improve travel facilities and upgrade services across the network, officials said.

According to the Railways administration, an open auction for the outsourcing of these trains will be held on December 3 at the Pakistan Railways headquarters in Lahore. Companies interested in bidding have already submitted their documents under the outsourcing rules, and scrutiny of these submissions is currently under way.

Once the evaluation is completed, qualified firms will participate in the open bidding process. The company offering the highest bid will be awarded operational rights for the respective train service.

The trains proposed for outsourcing include Hazara Express, Millat Express, Bahauddin Zakariya Express, Fareed Express, Badar Express, Ghouri Express, Ravi Express, Thal Express, Mianwali Express, Faiz Ahmed Faiz Passenger, and Manjho Daro Passenger.

Railways officials noted that the decision is part of a broader effort to modernize stations, improve passenger services, and enhance overall operational efficiency. The department has already outsourced eight trains in previous phases, including the Shalimar and Pak Business Express.
