Punjab Home Department launches ‘partner in peace’ initiative

2 min read

The Punjab Home Department has issued an extraordinary circular urging citizens and institutions across the province to become “Partners in Peace” to support the implementation of the Safe Punjab Vision. The initiative emphasizes unity, responsibility, and public participation as key to maintaining law and order.

The circular clearly states that no individual or organization will be allowed to engage in violence, law-breaking, or any unlawful activity. To facilitate public participation, the department has set up a WhatsApp number, 0311-4340000, for citizens to submit security-related suggestions in writing.

For reporting crimes, identifying suspects, or alerting authorities in emergencies, the public has been advised to dial 15. Law enforcement agencies have been instructed to remain on high alert, while educational institutions, hospitals, religious sites, and public areas are to be closely monitored. Timely security audits are encouraged to prevent potential incidents.

The circular also calls on the business community, market associations, and industrial organizations to assist in enforcing laws. Effective surveillance through Punjab’s modern Safe Cities system is to be ensured, with full compliance to laws deemed essential for a peaceful and harmonious society.

The directive has been sent to the Inspector General of Punjab, administrative secretaries, heads of federal departments in the province, divisional commissioners, CCPO Lahore, deputy commissioners, CPOs, RPOs, as well as principals, rectors, and vice-chancellors of public and private educational institutions, and presidents of all Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Punjab.
