Adiala Jail denies Imran Khan operating x account from prison

A significant development has emerged regarding the request to suspend the X (formerly Twitter) account of PTI founder Imran Khan, as the Superintendent of Adiala Jail has submitted a detailed response to the Islamabad High Court.

According to jail authorities, the impression that Imran Khan’s X account is being operated from inside the prison is incorrect, and all such speculation is baseless. In his written reply, the Superintendent stated that the PTI founder remains under strict surveillance and has no access to mobile phones or any prohibited items.

The court submission further explained that mobile phones and other banned devices are strictly prohibited under jail rules. Signal jammers installed inside Adiala Jail block all mobile networks within and around the facility, making communication through such devices impossible.

The Superintendent added that Imran Khan and the staff deployed around him are regularly searched, ensuring that no restricted equipment is accessible to them. Under Jail Rule 265, prisoners are not allowed to engage in political discussions. However, during jail trial proceedings, his family members and lawyers sometimes violate this rule by engaging in political conversations.

The jail administration maintained that in the past, political directives allegedly issued by Imran Khan from jail contributed to unrest, but emphasized that his current X account is not being operated from within the prison. The account, officials said, is clearly managed by someone outside, as the jail has no mobile or internet facilities.

Imran Khan receives only those facilities permitted under jail rules or granted through court orders, the reply added.
