A polio vaccination team was attacked in Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat area after a family refused to allow their children to be vaccinated, leaving a female health worker injured, police said.
According to police officials, the polio team had reached a house as part of an ongoing anti-polio drive when the family declined vaccination for their children. When the workers tried to convince them, a woman and her two daughters assaulted the team.
Police said the female worker sustained a head injury after being hit with a brick during the scuffle. The attackers also damaged the team’s scooter before fleeing.
A case has been registered on the complaint of the polio team’s supervisor. The woman and her two sons, who have been nominated in the FIR, are currently on the run, and police are conducting raids to arrest them.
