The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has seized narcotics worth more than Rs 83.7 million and arrested eight suspects, including five women, during a series of operations across the country, officials said on Monday.
According to an ANF spokesperson, the force carried out seven raids targeting drug smuggling networks in various cities, recovering 97.165 kilograms of narcotics.
At Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport, ANF recovered 19 kilograms of Ice (crystal meth) soaked in clothing from the luggage of two passengers travelling to Jeddah. In a separate operation, 1.6 kilograms of Ice concealed in footwear was seized from three Jeddah-bound passengers, including two women and a man.
At Islamabad International Airport, authorities intercepted a parcel destined for the United Kingdom and recovered 64.565 kilograms of heroin hidden in women’s clothing. One suspect was arrested.
In Kala Bagh, ANF recovered 6 kilograms of hashish from a woman’s luggage at the railway station, while 1.2 kilograms of hashish was found in a Karachi-bound parcel at a courier service office on Peshawar Ring Road. In Karachi, another woman was arrested after 3.6 kilograms of hashish was recovered from her possession.
In Dera Ismail Khan, ANF seized 1.2 kilograms of hashish from a motorcycle on Bhakkar Road, arresting the rider.
The spokesperson said cases have been registered against all suspects under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 1997, and further investigations are under way.
