The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has registered a case against 13 additional officers of the National Counter Crime Intelligence Agency (NCCIA) over allegations of extorting millions of rupees from call centers.
According to the officials, the case was filed at the Anti-Corruption Circle of FIA Islamabad, naming several NCCIA Additional Directors, including officers posted in Rawalpindi, along with intermediaries and a foreign national involved in the scheme.
According to the FIR, 15 illegal call centers operating in Sector 11-F, Islamabad, were allegedly forced to pay millions of rupees in extortion. The accused officers are reported to have continued collecting large sums on a monthly basis from these centers.
The FIR also highlights that one of the accused acted as a front man for the officers, receiving payments from a woman who paid millions to secure the release of 13 foreign nationals and her husband. The main accused has previously served as Director of NCCIA Sindh.
Sources in the FIA said the investigation aims to uncover the full network of extortion and bring all responsible officials to justice.
