The Punjab Social Welfare Department has launched a new mobile application, “Assistive Devices and Wheelchair”, enabling persons with disabilities to apply for wheelchairs and other assistive equipment from the comfort of their homes.
The initiative has been rolled out under the Punjab Chief Minister’s digital vision to provide one-click access to services for persons with disabilities.
According to the Social Welfare Department, the app will simplify the process of requesting and delivering assistive devices, ensuring that equipment reaches beneficiaries at their doorstep. Punjab’s Provincial Minister for Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Mal, Sohail Shoukat Butt, issued directives to launch the app to improve service delivery.
Through the application, persons with disabilities can submit online requests for wheelchairs and other assistive devices without having to visit government offices. The app is available for download on the Google Play Store at the provided link.
Sohail Shoukat Butt said that empowering persons with disabilities through digital technology was a key mission of the provincial government, adding that Punjab was committed to expanding facilitation for differently-abled citizens.
Field officers will also be able to process, register, and monitor requests through the application. The Social Welfare Department has instructed field staff to download the app and spread awareness among the public.
