The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has seized narcotics worth more than Rs184.3 million in a series of coordinated operations across various cities and in the vicinity of educational institutions, arresting seven suspects, according to an ANF spokesperson.
In six separate raids, the ANF recovered a total of 208.3 kilograms of drugs, including heroin, hashish and cannabis oil.
A special crackdown was launched against drug peddling near schools and universities. During an operation near a hospital on GT Road in Rawalpindi, 2.4 kilograms of hashish was recovered from a suspect. In another raid near the Islamabad Motorway Toll Plaza, 600 grams of hashish were seized from a vehicle and two suspects were taken into custody.
Initial interrogation revealed that the arrested suspects were supplying drugs to students.
In Rawalpindi’s Chaklala area, 144 grams of cannabis oil was recovered from a parcel at a courier office. The parcel had reportedly arrived from the United Kingdom, and one person was arrested.
In Karachi, 36 kilograms of hashish was seized from a suspect near Korangi Brooks Chowrangi, while in another operation near the Chenab Bridge on GT Road, Gujrat, 19.2 kilograms of hashish was recovered from a vehicle and two suspects were arrested.
The largest haul was reported in Quetta, where 150 kilograms of heroin was seized during a raid at Hazarganji Western Bypass.
According to the ANF, cases have been registered under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 1997, and further investigations are under way.
