Lyari Football Academy continued its impressive run by securing a spot in the semi-finals of the Singa Cup 2025, Asia’s largest youth football tournament, underway in Singapore.
The academy’s Under-16 boys’ team booked a place in the final four after a hard-fought quarter-final victory against Indonesia’s well-known club Semen Padang FC. The match remained goalless at full time, pushing the contest into a penalty shoot-out, where Lyari Football Academy triumphed 3–2.
Goalkeeper Kashif emerged as the standout performer, making a crucial save that denied a certain goal and ensured his side’s passage into the semi-finals.
Earlier, the Lyari side earned their quarter-final berth with a dominant 6–0 win over Australia’s Ocean Reef SHS. The squad is being led on tour by the academy’s president, Sheikh Abdul Rahman.
The 15th edition of the Singa Cup, running until November 9, features 160 teams from 13 countries, competing across Under-8, Under-10, Under-12, Under-14 and Under-16 categories. For the first time, para-football competitions have also been included in the tournament.
