ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s headline inflation, measured by Consumer Price Index (CPI), rose to 6.2 percent in October, up from 5.6 percent in September, official data showed.

According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), urban inflation reached 6 percent in October, up from 5.5 percent in September, while rural inflation rose to 6.6 percent compared with 5.8 percent in the previous month.

Core inflation, excluding food and energy, stood at 7.5 percent in urban areas and 8.4 percent in rural areas.

The PBS said that prices of food items such as tomatoes, onions and wheat flour, as well as electricity charges, contributed to the monthly increase.
