Renowned actor Hamza Ali Abbasi has revealed that he once cleared the Central Superior Services (CSS) exam and was offered a position in the Police Service of Pakistan, but chose not to join the civil service as it did not align with his interests.
Speaking during a recent podcast, Abbasi said he had appeared in the CSS exam on his mother’s insistence. When the results were announced, his scores were higher than expected, leading to an offer for induction into the police service.
He said that while he considers the police department to be a strong and respectable state institution, he knew government service did not suit his personality. Abbasi added that he eventually convinced his mother that he should not take up the job, as his inclination was not towards a bureaucratic career.
The actor said his motivation for appearing in the CSS exam was not job security but his interest in Pakistan’s political landscape and public affairs.
During the conversation, Abbasi also shared a personal childhood memory, recalling that at the age of eight he suffered from a kidney-related health issue, which deeply worried his family. He further spoke about the professional achievements of the women in his family, highlighting the global recognition of his sister, Dr. Fazila Abbasi, whom he described as a world-renowned dermatologist.
