Young man held after allegedly assaulting traffic police in Islamabad

1 min read

A young man was arrested late Saturday night for allegedly assaulting traffic police officers in Islamabad’s I-8 sector while under the influence of alcohol.

According to eyewitnesses, the suspect, identified as Aaqib Naeem, was reportedly intoxicated and involved in disorderly conduct. He allegedly abused and threatened traffic police personnel who stopped him, and is accused of slapping one of the officers during the confrontation.

Police said that a team from I-9 Police Station arrested the suspect along with his vehicle and shifted him to the station for legal proceedings.

Sources said this is not the first complaint against the same individual. Prior to the incident, he had allegedly assaulted a journalist in PWD Housing Society. The journalist has submitted an application at Lohi Bher Police Station seeking registration of a case regarding that earlier incident.

Police said investigations into both matters are ongoing.
