Three police personnel were injured on Sunday when a convoy carrying senior police officials was targeted in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack in the Doaba area of Hangu, officials said.

According to police, the convoy of SP Investigation Abdul Samad, DSP Tall Mujahid and Doaba Police Station SHO Imranuddin came under attack when an IED went off on their route. The blast was followed by an exchange of gunfire between police and the attackers, which continued for some time.

Police confirmed that SHO Imranuddin, Sub-Inspector Jehad Ali and Abid, an official of the District Special Branch, sustained injuries in the attack. Security forces reached the scene and launched a search operation in the area.

The incident comes just days after a bomb blast in Hangu claimed the lives of SP Operations Asad Zubair and three police personnel, highlighting the continued targeting of law enforcement in the region.
