Quinton de Kock sets unwanted South African T20I record for most ducks

South African wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock has set an unwanted national record for the most ducks in T20 Internationals. The left-hander was dismissed for zero in the opening over of the third and final T20I against Pakistan at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.

Facing Shaheen Shah Afridi, de Kock edged a delivery to be removed without scoring, marking his eighth duck in T20Is. With this dismissal, he now holds the record for the most zero-run innings by a South African in the format, surpassing all other Proteas batters.

De Kock has now registered eight ducks in 96 T20I appearances for South Africa. All-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo follows with seven ducks, while Temba Bavuma, JP Duminy and Reeza Hendricks share third place with six each.

On the Pakistani side, opener Saim Ayub also recorded a duck in the same match, equalling the national record for the most T20I zeroes. Saim, appearing in his 51st T20I, has now been dismissed for nought 10 times — drawing level with Umar Akmal, who reached the same tally in 84 matches.

Former captain Shahid Afridi and Babar Azam follow with eight ducks each, while Kamran Akmal, Mohammad Nawaz, and Mohammad Hafeez have seven apiece.
