Renowned Pakistani actor Nabeel Zafar has taken a witty swipe at the Sindh government over the newly-implemented e-challan system in Karachi, suggesting that motorists deserve awards rather than fines for driving on the city’s roads.
Sharing a humorous note on Instagram, the Bulbulay star commented that navigating Karachi’s traffic and road conditions should be considered an achievement worthy of a prize. “Driving on Karachi roads should earn a reward, not a challan that is a public demand,” he quipped.
The remark came days after the Sindh government introduced a faceless ticketing system, the e-challan across Karachi on 27 October for traffic violations. Under the system, digital fines are issued to vehicle owners for offences captured by surveillance cameras, including lane violations and signal jumping.
According to media reports, more than 12,000 e-challans were issued during the first three days of the system’s rollout.
Nabeel’s satirical comment has resonated with many social media users, with several Karachi residents echoing his criticism by highlighting poor road conditions, traffic congestion and lack of infrastructure maintenance.
