Students from Karachi secured the top positions in the MDCAT 2025 entrance test conducted by IBA Sukkur University, outperforming candidates from across Sindh.
All top three positions in the MDCAT 2025 were clinched by Karachi students, while 41 of the 124 candidates placed in the Top 10 lists belonged to Karachi.
According to the initial results, a majority of students who had secured A-1 and A grades in intermediate examinations across Sindh surprisingly failed to clear the MDCAT. As many as 56% of MBBS aspirants and 48% of BDS candidates did not pass the test.
The results showed that 14,300 candidates secured 55% (99 marks) or above to qualify for MBBS admission, while 17,123 candidates scored 50% (90 marks) or above to qualify for BDS. This means 56% of those appearing for MBBS and 48% of those appearing for BDS failed to meet the passing criteria.
As per the merit list, Syed Mehmood Khan, son of Adalat Khan from Karachi (West), topped the MDCAT by scoring 175 out of 180 marks. Faisal Ashraf Khan, son of Naveed Ashraf Khan from Korangi, Karachi, and Shiraz Hussain, son of Niaz Hussain Maghiri from Qambar Shahdadkot, shared the second position with 174 marks.
At third place, three candidates secured 173 marks each: Muhammad Rayan Humayun, son of Humayun Farooq from Karachi (East); Mahnoor Shah Nawaz, daughter of Syed Shah Nawaz Hussain from Korangi, Karachi; and Hira Abid, daughter of Abid Ali Sehto from Hyderabad.
In total, 124 candidates made it to the Top 10 lists across categories, of which 41 were from Karachi.
