Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON, Engineer Ameer Muqam, extended heartfelt congratulations to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan on the occasion of GB Independence Day being observed on November 1.
He said it was a unique honour for the people of Gilgit-Baltistan that they celebrate their independence twice on August 14 and again on November 1. Terming the day a historic milestone, the minister said it was on this day that the people of the region achieved their freedom and decided to join Pakistan.
Ameer Muqam said that on this joyous day, it was important to remember the oppressed people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir and Palestine. He noted that the people of Kashmir had been struggling for their right to self-determination for more than seven decades.
He paid tribute to the Pakistan Armed Forces for defending the country’s borders and sovereignty.
The minister reiterated that the federal government considers the development and progress of Gilgit-Baltistan as a top priority. He highlighted the strategic importance of GB in the context of CPEC and said the region holds great global significance in tourism.
Ameer Muqam added that successive governments of the Pakistan Muslim League-N had carried out record development projects in Gilgit-Baltistan. He assured that the federal government would continue to take measures on priority to promote tourism and boost socio-economic development in the region.
He called for collective efforts, saying that united, the people of Gilgit-Baltistan and Pakistan would continue to move forward on the path of development and prosperity.
