The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Punjab has arrested 18 terror suspects during 386 intelligence-based operations conducted across multiple districts over the past month.
According to a CTD Punjab spokesperson, those arrested include a highly dangerous member of a banned militant outfit who had allegedly completed planning for a major terror attack in a city of Punjab.
The operations were carried out in Lahore, Mandi Bahauddin, Khushab, Bahawalpur, Toba Tek Singh, Gujranwala, Narowal, Pakpattan, Bhakkar and several other districts.
Explosives, an improvised explosive device (IED), three detonators, 13 safety fuse wires, extremist pamphlets and cash were recovered from the arrested individuals.
The suspects have been identified as Muhammad Kareem, Ali Raza, Muhammad Aziz, Muhammad Ali, Hashim, Noor-ul-Amin, Saleem, Saddam and others. The spokesperson said the militants intended to carry out attacks at various locations to spread fear and panic among the public.
Meanwhile, during 4,601 combing operations conducted this month, 320 suspected individuals were detained, while a total of 109,892 people were questioned.
