According to official details, the new app allows citizens to book appointments in advance for meeting prisoners and under-trial detainees. The application can be downloaded from the Google Play Store.
The Inspectorate of Prisons Punjab has issued instructions to all jail superintendents to implement the new digital system. Each prison’s Prisoners Management Information System (PMIS) in-charge has also been provided specialized training to operate the app effectively.
Additionally, operational videos have been shared with the jail staff to help them understand the app’s use and assist visitors efficiently.
Authorities have directed that staff be deployed at waiting sheds in prisons to assist visitors in online bookings, while dedicated facilitation counters are also being set up for those arriving with prior online appointments.
Officials said the initiative aims to improve the prison visitation process, reduce overcrowding, and make the system more transparent and accessible for the public.
