Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb has announced that a total of Rs6.39 billion has been distributed so far under the Chief Minister’s Flood Rehabilitation Programme to support flood-affected families across the province.
Speaking to the media in Lahore, the minister said that the Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) had completed 90% of the flood assessment survey, under which data of 569,000 flood victims had been compiled. To ensure transparency, the data of 463,000 affected individuals had been verified by respective deputy commissioners, she added.
The provincial minister stated that more than 98,000 ATM cards had been prepared for the disbursement of compensation, while 37 camp sites had been established in 27 flood-hit districts to facilitate the payment process. She added that distribution of compensation had already begun in 13 districts from October 20.
Aurangzeb said that under the Chief Minister’s Flood Rehabilitation Programme, Rs6.39 billion had been released for flood victims, and the remaining districts of Punjab would begin receiving compensation from November 3. At the camps, each affected individual would be provided Rs50,000 in cash along with an ATM card, she confirmed.
Marriyum further stated that every flood-affected person would be able to withdraw up to Rs300,000 per day from the Bank of Punjab’s ATM services.
