The Environmental Protection Department (EPD) Punjab has sealed two industrial units in Lahore for contributing to air pollution during late-night anti-smog operations, officials confirmed on Thursday.
According to EPD sources, a special inspection team of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) visited M/s Bilal Foundry located at Mehmood Booti Ring Road, where the absence of an emission control system and visible smoke emissions were detected. The unit was immediately sealed for serious violations of environmental laws.
In a separate action, the EPA team also dismantled Ramadan Pottery Bhatti situated at Parveen Thay on Ferozepur Road for using substandard fuel and operating without pollution control mechanisms.
The operations were carried out under the supervision of Parliamentary Secretary for Environment Kanwal Liaqat and EPA Lahore Deputy Director Ali Ijaz.
EPA Lahore stated that the night squad operations will continue on a daily basis throughout the smog season to control air pollution and ensure clean air for the public.
