3 min read

Building on nearly eight decades of strong partnership and Islamic solidarity, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan have agreed to launch an Economic Cooperation Framework aimed at expanding trade, investment, and development collaboration between the two nations.

The agreement was reached during a meeting in Riyadh between His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, and His Excellency Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Pakistan, on Monday, 5 Jamada Al-Awwal 1447H, corresponding to October 27, 2025.

The framework reflects both countries’ shared economic interests and reaffirms their commitment to strengthening trade and investment relations to serve their mutual objectives.

Under this framework, several strategic and high-impact projects will be discussed across economic, trade, investment, and development sectors. These initiatives aim to bolster cooperation between the two governments, enhance the role of the private sector, and increase bilateral trade.

Priority sectors identified include energy, industry, mining, information technology, tourism, agriculture, and food security. Both sides are currently evaluating multiple joint economic ventures, including the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for an electricity interconnection project between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, as well as another MoU for cooperation in the energy sector.

The new framework marks an extension of both nations’ efforts to strengthen fraternal relations and underscores their shared vision of a sustainable, long-term partnership across diverse economic, trade, and investment fields.
It also reflects the aspirations of the leaderships and peoples of both countries to deepen cooperation and achieve shared prosperity.

The leaders of Saudi Arabia and Pakistan further expressed anticipation for the upcoming meeting of the Saudi-Pakistani Supreme Coordination Council, which will build on this framework and advance joint economic initiatives.
