Pakistan, Iran discuss launch of ferry service to boost trade and facilitate travelers

Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry met Iranian Minister for Roads, Farzana Sadiq, where both sides discussed expanding bilateral cooperation in maritime connectivity and port operations.

During the meeting, Junaid Anwar Chaudhry proposed launching a ferry service between Pakistan and Iran, stating that it would provide significant ease to pilgrims and traders traveling between the two countries. He said the service would help reduce travel costs and enhance regional connectivity.

The minister added that a ferry route would play an important role in promoting people-to-people contact and boosting cross-border trade.

Both countries agreed to increase collaboration in infrastructure development and port operations. The ministers also expressed commitment to further enhance cooperation in the maritime economy and trade.

The Iranian Minister noted that the ports of Pakistan and Iran hold the potential to become strong foundations for regional economic growth. She underlined that deeper cooperation could support broader economic development across the region.

The two sides also agreed to establish a coordination mechanism to strengthen regional connectivity and ensure implementation of joint initiatives.

Junaid Anwar Chaudhry emphasized that joint projects will open new pathways for economic development in the region.
