The Islamabad High Court has issued bailable arrest warrants for the Director Administration of the Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) after the official repeatedly failed to appear before the court despite summons.
Justice Khadim Hussain Somroo issued the written order during the hearing of a petition filed by Muhammad Shehbaz Qaiser regarding the status and service structure of ERRA employees following the authority’s merger into NDMA.
The court noted that summons had been issued multiple times, yet the Director Administration did not appear. The order stated that continued absence amounts to deliberate non-compliance with judicial directives.
The court directed the Islamabad Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police to ensure execution of the arrest warrants or appear in person to explain any hindrance in implementation.
“The court is left with no option but to issue bailable arrest warrants,” the order said, adding that failure to appear reflects willful disregard of court authority.
The DIG has also been instructed to report on the execution of the order at the next hearing.
The case has been adjourned until October 28.
