
Veteran Indian lyricist and writer Javed Akhtar has sparked fresh controversy after blaming Pakistan for his inability to buy a house in India. His statement that drew widespread criticism, including a sharp response from singer Lucky Ali.
The controversy began when Akhtar, known for his outspoken views, claimed that his efforts to purchase property in India had been obstructed due to his criticism of Pakistan. His remarks quickly went viral on social media, where many accused him of using Pakistan as a scapegoat for domestic issues.
Responding on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), singer Lucky Ali urged people “not to be like Javed Akhtar,” calling his attitude “rude and ugly.”
In a follow-up post, Lucky Ali clarified his comments, saying, “What I meant was that arrogance is ugly. My choice of words was poor.” However, in a sarcastic tone, he added, “Even devils have feelings, and if my words have hurt anyone’s devilry, I apologize.”
Javed Akhtar, who has long presented himself as a progressive and liberal voice, often targets religious conservatism and has made several Pakistan-critical remarks in recent years. His latest statement has reignited debate over his perceived bias against Muslims and Pakistan, with many social media users accusing him of hypocrisy and intolerance.
