The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday directed the Superintendent of Adiala Jail to arrange meetings between former Prime Minister Imran Khan and the individuals named in the list submitted by his lawyer, Salman Akram Raja, in accordance with the court’s previous order issued on March 24.
The order was passed by a two-member bench comprising Justice Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Azam Khan during the hearing of petitions related to restrictions on meetings with the PTI founder in jail.
During the proceedings, Advocate General Punjab Amjad Pervez requested the court to nullify the earlier single-bench decision, arguing that the rules suspended by the court were not federal but provincial, as the 18th Amendment had transferred these powers to the provinces.
Presenting his arguments, Salman Akram Raja contended that the court’s March 24 order had not been implemented even once. “We submit names for meetings each time as per the court’s decision, but the authorities keep denying access — and sometimes even add outsiders to the list,” he told the bench.
Responding to these claims, the Superintendent of Adiala Jail stated that regular meetings are held, but “no such list has been received from Salman Akram Raja.”
After hearing both sides, the IHC instructed the jail authorities to fully comply with the March 24 order and to allow meetings for all individuals included in the list provided by Salman Akram Raja.
