FBR Implements new procedure for industrial power and gas connection changes

1 min read

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has implemented a new procedure for the transfer of industrial electricity and gas connections, effective from October 22, 2025.

According to the new sales tax order issued by the FBR, any change in the National Tax Number (NTN) or Sales Tax Registration Number (STRN) for industrial consumers will now require formal approval. Applications must be submitted to the relevant commissioner, who will verify the business details before granting permission.

The new regulations state that electricity and gas companies can only process connection transfers after verification and upon the recommendation of the concerned commissioner.

The FBR has directed all relevant departments and institutions to ensure strict compliance with the new procedure.
