Customs Enforcement Peshawar has foiled multiple attempts to smuggle foreign-origin cigarettes in a major crackdown on illicit trade.
The operation was carried out on the special directions of the Chief Collector of Customs (Enforcement), as part of intensified efforts to curb smuggling activities in the region.
During the first three months of FY 2025–26, Customs teams seized 18,275,100 sticks of smuggled cigarettes worth Rs. 154.90 million. This marks a sharp rise from 14,114,400 sticks valued at Rs. 97.04 million seized during the same period last year, reflecting a 60 percent increase in value.
Officials said the successful campaign underscores Pakistan Customs’ strong commitment to curbing smuggling, protecting legitimate businesses, and safeguarding national revenue.
