
All seeded players in the Boys’ Singles category have advanced to the quarterfinals of the ITF Pakistan International J-30 Junior Tennis Championships 2025, currently underway at the PTF-SDA Tennis Complex, Islamabad, the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) announced on Tuesday.
Top seed Mikaeel Ali Baig of Pakistan cruised into the quarterfinals with a dominant 6-1, 6-2 victory over Jun Woo Ye of South Korea, showcasing excellent form and control.
Second seed Timur Gordeev of Russia faced a stiff challenge from Pakistan’s rising youngster Nabeel Qayum, but battled back to win 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 in an intense three-set contest.
The most thrilling match of the day came between two local players — Abdul Basit and Zohaib Afzal Malik. Wild card entrant Abdul Basit displayed remarkable grit to edge out Zohaib in a nail-biting decider, 3-6, 7-5, 7-6(5), earning loud applause from the home crowd.
PTF Patron and former President Mr. Salim Saifullah Khan visited the complex alongside current PTF President Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi to watch the ongoing matches. Both officials discussed strategies for promoting tennis in Pakistan and praised the young players’ performances.
Mr. Qureshi thanked Mr. Saifullah Khan for his continued support and encouragement, saying his visit had boosted morale among the players and staff.
