Federal Government Spokesperson for Sindh Raja Khaleeq Ansari has announced that work on the Karachi Green Line Project is set to resume soon, bringing good news for citizens awaiting improved urban transport.
Talking to the media, Ansari said that a meeting at the Prime Minister’s House reviewed all aspects of the project, and the incomplete works identified by the local government will be finalized promptly.
He said the Green Line project, delayed by about a month, is now expected to be completed by September 2026. The plan includes the construction of a new station near Capri Cinema, Plaza, and Jama Cloth, where the line will also terminate.
Addressing concerns about project approvals, Ansari clarified that the No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the project was originally issued in 2017, long before the current city administration took office, and it remains valid since it had no expiry date.
He also announced that on October 31, the government will inaugurate a state-of-the-art station at Karachi Cantt, saying, “Passengers arriving there will feel as if they’ve entered an airport.”
Ansari added that the federal government is ready to assist with ongoing development projects in Karachi. Regarding the Lyari Expressway, he said only maintenance work is being carried out and that it will continue to function as usual.
