An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi in Monday has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Aleema Khan, sister of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, after her repeated failure to appear in court hearings related to the November 26 protest cases.
The court, presided over by Judge Amjad Ali Shah, issued the warrants for Aleema Khan for the third time, ordering police to arrest and present her before the court on October 22.
Along with Aleema Khan, 11 accused persons are named in the case. During Saturday’s proceedings, 10 co-accused appeared before the court, while five prosecution witnesses recorded their statements and submitted case materials.
The ATC also issued non-bailable warrants for Aleema Khan’s guarantor, Umar Sharif, due to his failure to ensure her attendance. The court directed the Deputy Commissioner of Rawalpindi to verify property documents submitted as surety by the guarantor.
The charges against Aleema Khan and others stem from cases filed under anti-terrorism laws following the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest demonstrations on November 26, during which clashes and disruptions were reported.
The court directed law enforcement agencies to ensure compliance with the arrest order and produce the accused at the next hearing.
