
Britain defeated Pakistan 3-2 to clinch the bronze medal in the Sultan of Johor Hockey Cup, held in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
The playoff for third place saw an intense contest between the two sides. Britain started strong, scoring twice in the opening quarter to take an early lead. Pakistan fought back in the second quarter through a goal by captain Hannan Shahid, reducing the deficit to 2-1.
In the final quarter, Pakistan’s Sufyan Khan equalized, reviving hopes of a comeback. However, with just four minutes remaining, Britain’s Henry Markham scored a decisive goal to restore his team’s lead.
Despite Pakistan’s efforts to level the score again, Britain maintained their advantage until the final whistle, securing the bronze medal.
Pakistan, who managed only one win in the tournament against hosts Malaysia and finished fourth among the six participating teams.
The Sultan of Johor Cup is one of the premier under-21 international hockey tournaments, featuring top emerging teams from around the world.
