Veteran Pakistani actress Ghazala Javed has sparked debate with her recent remarks about modern women, saying that many young girls today avoid marriage due to a desire for freedom and luxury.
Speaking on a private TV show, Ghazala Javed discussed various social topics, including the changing mindset of women regarding marriage. She said, “Today’s girls don’t want to marry because they prefer a life of luxury and independence — they don’t want anyone questioning their choices.”
Comparing modern marriages to those in the past, the actress noted, “If you look back, even marriages of very young girls used to be the most successful ones.”
During the show, she also shared a personal anecdote, saying her nephew — a doctor — preferred to marry a simple graduate girl instead of a doctor or engineer, emphasizing humility and compatibility over social status.
Her comments have since circulated widely on social media, sparking mixed reactions from audiences — with some agreeing about shifting social values, while others called her views outdated and judgmental.
