
Pakistan’s Noor Zaman and Ashab Irfan have advanced to the quarterfinals of the Vancouver Men’s Open Squash Championship, a PSA World Series Copper Event currently being played in Canada.
In the round of 16, third seed Noor Zaman defeated Owain Taylor of Wales in a thrilling four-game contest lasting 53 minutes. Noor secured victory with game scores of 11-9, 11-9, 12-14, 11-8, earning a well-deserved spot in the last eight.
Meanwhile, fourth seed Ashab Irfan triumphed over Matthew Lai of Hong Kong in a tough five-game battle that lasted 71 minutes, winning 11-4, 9-11, 11-7, 10-12, 11-6.
The Vancouver Open, featuring a total prize purse of USD 31,250, has attracted top emerging talent from around the world.
Both Pakistani players will now look to continue their impressive form as they aim for a place in the semifinals and further strengthen Pakistan’s legacy in world squash.
