In a major relief measure for citizens affected by recent floods, the Government of Pakistan has waived electricity bills for the month of August in all flood-hit regions, according to sources in the Power Division.
Officials said the decision applies to all categories of domestic consumers residing in the flood-affected areas. Those who have already paid their August bills will receive adjustments or credits in their upcoming billing cycles.
The Power Division further clarified that commercial and other non-domestic consumers in the same regions will not have their bills waived but will receive payment deferments until December 2025. These deferred bills will later be collected in six monthly installments.
The move comes as part of the government’s broader relief efforts to support households and small businesses recovering from the devastation caused by this year’s monsoon floods.
Officials say the measure aims to ease financial pressure on affected communities while ensuring continued access to essential services.
