Couples around the world can now legally marry in Abu Dhabi without ever setting foot in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), thanks to a new digital marriage service introduced by the Abu Dhabi government.
The innovative initiative allows people of any nationality or religion to register and complete their marriage ceremonies entirely online through official government platforms — TAMM App and the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department’s digital portal.
According to Gulf media reports, the process is simple and fast: applicants only need a reliable internet connection, a smart device, and the required documents. Users can fill out the marriage application form, upload documents, book an authorized marriage officiant, and complete the virtual ceremony — all within 24 hours.
The fee for an online marriage is 800 UAE dirhams (over PKR 61,000). For couples residing outside the UAE, a legal representative or attorney in the country is required to complete local formalities on their behalf.
After the ceremony, couples receive an officially recognized marriage certificate issued by Abu Dhabi authorities, valid both within the UAE and internationally. For an additional 300 dirhams, the certificate can be attested for official use abroad.
Officials say the program aims to modernize personal status laws, enhance government e-services, and promote digital accessibility.
The initiative follows earlier virtual wedding trials held during the COVID-19 pandemic, but this new expanded version is now open to a global audience, marking a major step toward digitizing civil services in the region.
