Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, admired not only for his acting but also for his thoughtful views on life, has once again captured the internet’s attention, this time with an old video in which he talks about the traditional and spiritual value of eating on a dastarkhwan (cloth spread on the floor).
The video, which has gone viral across social media platforms, shows Shah Rukh Khan explaining the cultural and health benefits of this practice.
“We were taught as children that if possible, eat on a dastarkhwan. It’s the Sunnah of our Prophet (peace be upon him),” SRK says in the clip.
He further explains, “A dastarkhwan is where you sit on the floor to eat. When you fold your legs inward while sitting, one-third of your stomach is naturally compressed. You never eat until you’re completely full — yet you feel satisfied.”
The actor adds, “Most of us tend to overeat, which isn’t healthy. Leaving a little hunger after eating is actually good for the body.”
Smiling, he concludes, “I may not know the science behind it, but I believe this is the best way to eat.”
Fans have widely praised the video, appreciating Shah Rukh Khan’s respect for traditional values, his humble lifestyle, and his grounded perspective on health and culture.
On the professional front, Shah Rukh Khan recently attended the 70th Filmfare Awards, where he won his first-ever National Award. He will next appear in his upcoming film “King,” which also stars Deepika Padukone and his daughter Suhana Khan in key roles.
