The Punjab government has decided to bring Afghan nationals into the provincial tax network and tighten monitoring of illegal foreign residents, as part of new administrative and security measures.
The decision was made during a high-level meeting on law and order chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, according to an official statement issued by the provincial government.
The meeting also approved the creation of real-time data on illegal Afghan residents living in different districts across Punjab.
Under the new plan, a whistleblower system will be introduced to help identify illegal immigrants. The government assured that the identity of informants will remain strictly confidential.
Additionally, the Punjab administration has decided to launch a combing operation against illegal foreign residents and their businesses, while Afghan nationals living without legal documents will be deported in line with federal government policy.
Officials said the initiative aims to ensure better law enforcement, taxation compliance, and security coordination across the province.
