Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan, chaired a high-level meeting on Thursday to review progress on the Pakistan–Italy agreement aimed at enhancing collaboration in the marble and granite sector.

During the meeting, discussions focused on expanding cooperation between Pakistan and Italy to strengthen Pakistan’s marble and granite industry. Haroon Akhtar Khan emphasized that collaboration with Italy would introduce modern technology, skill development, and international market access, helping uplift the sector to global standards.

He noted that land has already been allocated for the establishment of Marble City in Risalpur, which will serve as a hub for innovation, processing, and exports.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment, Haroon Akhtar Khan said the Ministry of Industries and Production is dedicated to deepening cooperation with Italy. He added that, in line with the vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the government aims to modernize the marble sector through technological advancement and global partnerships.

He directed that the project be taken up on a priority basis in the Joint Economic Commission (JEC) 2025, stressing that progress on the agreement holds significant importance for both countries.

He also instructed that a follow-up meeting be convened with all relevant stakeholders to ensure timely implementation of the decisions made.
