A unique record was created during the ongoing Test match between India and the West Indies in Delhi, where India declared their first innings at 518 for five, without a single run coming from byes or leg byes.
After winning the toss, India chose to bat first and played 134.2 overs before declaring their innings. Remarkably, throughout the entire innings, not a single run was added as a bye or leg bye an extremely rare occurrence in Test cricket.
This is only the second time in Test history that a team has scored more than 500 runs in an innings without any byes or leg byes. The first such instance occurred in 2018, when Bangladesh scored 513 runs against Sri Lanka under similar circumstances.
Adding to the rarity, no West Indian bowler bowled a no-ball during India’s innings. Out of the total 518 runs, only two extras were recorded — both from wides.
Cricket analysts have praised the discipline of the West Indian bowling attack and the precision of the wicketkeeper, noting that such a clean scorecard is a rare sight in modern Test cricket.
