Secretary PHF calls for setting up National Hockey Board to ensure financial stability

2 min read

Secretary General of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), Rana Mujahid Ali Khan, has emphasized the urgent need to establish a Pakistan Hockey Board (PHB) to revive the national sport and ensure its long-term financial stability.

Speaking to the media today, Rana Mujahid said that the PHF currently lacks a steady source of income, which often leads to difficulties in making payments to players and officials. He noted that without a sustainable financial model, it is challenging to run the sport professionally and consistently.

He proposed that if the government handed over all hockey stadiums and related facilities directly to the PHF, the federation could generate sufficient revenue from them to make the sport financially self-reliant.

Rana Mujahid further suggested that either the creation of a dedicated Pakistan Hockey Board or the allocation of an annual budget could help the sport function on a permanent footing, freeing the federation from financial dependence.

He reaffirmed the federation’s commitment to keeping hockey alive despite limited resources and expressed hope that the government and private sponsors would extend their support to strengthen Pakistan’s national game.
