The real reason behind veteran Pakistani actor Shafqat Cheema’s long-kept illness being hidden from the media has finally been revealed by his son during a recent interview with a private TV channel.
Shafqat Cheema, one of the most iconic villains of the Pakistani film industry, built a remarkable career spanning over 35 years, earning fame for his powerful negative roles in Lollywood. Last year, the actor reportedly suffered a stroke, which left him seriously ill. However, his illness was never made public, leaving fans wondering about his sudden absence from screens.
Speaking about the matter, Cheema’s son explained that the family intentionally decided not to disclose his condition. “Our father means everything to us,” he said. “When he fell ill, one of my sisters flew in from Manchester and the other from the United States. We all agreed not to show him in the media because people have always seen him as a lion-like, strong figure. We didn’t want fans to see him in a weak state.”
He added that the family wanted to preserve the image fans have of Shafqat Cheema that of a fearless and commanding screen presence.
