South African fast bowler Kwena Maphaka has been ruled out of the upcoming white-ball series against Pakistan after suffering a hamstring strain injury, the team management confirmed today.
According to a statement from Cricket South Africa (CSA), recent scans and medical assessments revealed that Maphaka sustained a hamstring strain and will spend the next four weeks in rehabilitation.
Maphaka, who was part of South Africa’s T20 and ODI squads for the Pakistan tour, has been replaced by Ottniel Baartman for the T20I series.
In another squad update, Lizaad Williams, who was originally named in the T20 squad, has now been added to the ODI team for the Pakistan series.
The South African team is scheduled to begin its long tour of Pakistan on October 12, which includes two Test matches, three T20 Internationals, and three One-Day Internationals. The series will conclude with the final ODI on November 8.
Meanwhile, tickets for the Pakistan–South Africa series went on sale today and are available online and at designated outlets across major cities.
