Veteran Indian actor Pankaj Kapoor, father of Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor, has revealed that their family has ancestral roots in Hafizabad, Pakistan, shedding light on the Kapoor family’s pre-partition history.

In a recent appearance on an Indian podcast, Pankaj Kapoor spoke about his family background, saying that his grandfather served in government service, which often led to postings in different cities. “We were told that our family originally belonged to Hafizabad, where the Kapoor clan lived together as a joint family,” he said. “Since we were residing in India during the partition, we did not face any major difficulties.”
