Islamabad Traffic Police begins action against drivers without licenses

2 min read

The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has begun strict action against unlicensed drivers after the expiry of the October 7 deadline for obtaining driving licenses, set under the directions of the Interior Minister and the Inspector General of Islamabad Police.

According to Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Captain (R) Hamza Humayun, a record 128,000 citizens processed their licenses between September 1 and October 7. He said the campaign resulted in a 540 percent increase in license applications — the highest rise recorded in the past eight years.

“Citizens have shown tremendous trust in the Islamabad Traffic Police, and we are sincerely grateful for their cooperation,” Captain Hamza Humayun stated.

He added that the ITP provided maximum facilitation to the public during the licensing campaign. Two major centers and mobile facilitation vans were kept open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to accommodate applicants.
From today, the traffic police have begun enforcement operations against drivers without valid licenses. “Action will be taken without discrimination against anyone found driving without a license,” the CTO said.

He further advised all citizens to carry their driving licenses while traveling. Those who have not yet obtained a permanent license are urged to at least print their learner permits to avoid penalties.
