Bigg Boss Kannada Season 12 shut down over environmental law violations

3 min read

The popular Indian reality show Bigg Boss Kannada Season 12 has been abruptly shut down after the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) sealed its studio for violating environmental regulations.

According to media reports, the show’s production site was operating without the required environmental clearances and was found to be openly violating pollution control laws. Following the inspection, the board ordered an immediate halt to all activities and disconnected the studio’s power supply.

After the notice was issued, the show’s management instructed all participants to vacate the Bigg Boss house immediately. Contestants were later shifted overnight to the Eagleton Resort under security arrangements.

More than 700 people including technical staff, lighting crews, and camera operators were forced to leave work as the studio was shut down.

The lavish Bigg Boss house, designed under the vision of actor Kiccha Sudeep, had reportedly cost around ₹5 crore to build. The season had only launched a few weeks earlier with much fanfare.

Confirming the action, the state minister for environment and forests said the studio administration had ignored several earlier warnings. “We made it clear that compliance with environmental norms was mandatory, but they chose to overlook it,” the minister stated.

An inspection found that untreated wastewater was being discharged from the Jolly Wood Studios, the sewage treatment plant was non-functional, waste was not being properly segregated, and two large diesel generators were running continuously, causing pollution.

The sudden shutdown has disappointed fans and sparked debate on social media. Authorities have advised the producers that they may appeal the decision in court if they wish to resume operations.
